Spring Meltdown 2010!

Get ready to melt down this spring! With the help of a grant from the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the Heart and Stroke Association of BC & Yukon, Active Comox Valley will be stepping up participation in this year’s Spring Meltdown during the month of May!

Keeping a record of your activity helps you stay motivated and the Spring Meltdown is all about tracking your daily exercise to earn points. There will be some great prizes for reaching a certain goal and this year there will be more opportunities to earn more points — like trying some new activities or challenging a co-worker, friend or family member to work out with you. You can’t lose as you’ll get more points and get more active! You’ll look and feel better and be ready to keep your daily activity on track.

Watch for details on prizes and how to register on the Active Comox Valley website and at your local rec centre.

2nd Annual Move for Health Day

Mark your calendars and move for your health on Saturday, May 15th at the Courtenay Lewis Centre! Active Comox Valley and Outer Strength Inner Peace are excited to offer FREE classes for all ages and abilities so be sure to come out and try something new! There will be prizes and healthy snacks too. More details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Active Is What You Make It, Active Is for Life!

Get Ready to Move for Free or Little Cost

“Active is for Life” campaign.

Active Comox Valley is encouraging local residents to get moving without putting a dent in their wallet or daily schedule.

With the help of a grant from the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the Heart and Stroke Association of BC & Yukon, a guide to free and low-cost activities (less than $5) for adults is available here or pick up a copy at your local recreation centre.

The grant is part of several joint initiatives the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon are implementing as part of its work with the BC Healthy Living Alliance, a coalition of organizations that came together to improve the health of British Columbians. The BC Healthy Living Alliance is funded with support from ActNow BC.

Get ready, get set for 12 More Great Places to Get Active For Free in the Comox Valley!

In partnership with the Cycling Task Force, ACV has produced a third trail map to help get residents up and active by foot or by wheels to explore the region. Twelve trails featuring six favorite cycling routes (both road and mountain biking) are highlighted, along with trails that are wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly throughout many of our communities — Denman Island, Fanny Bay, and Cumberland to name a few. Download a copy here or pick one up at your local rec centre or Visitor Information Centre. Happy trails!
